About Us

Welcome!

Welcome to the West Pines Track and Field Program. The focus of the program is not just to develop great athletes, but to also instill the value of hard work; morals; discipline and leadership skills as they strive to achieve their future goals.

The program is in it’s 18  year but our coaches who have developed other successful programs have over 30 combine years of coaching experience and were former track and field champions themselves, they include a certified high school track and field coach; a former certified high school track and field coach; former members of the USA Track & Field national team; former track athletes; USA Track & Field Certified Level I coaches and certified USA Track and Field Officials. They take great pride and joy in working with and developing the track stars of tomorrow, producing over 400 medals winners at the Local, State and National levels.

Our program focuses mainly on the development of the younger athlete ages 5 to 16 years of age. We provide them with a strong foundation and the fundamentals of track and field to compete on the next level which are the high schools, university or professional level. In this we have been very successful as many of our former athletes have excelled for their high schools, won State High School Championships and have received full athletic scholarships to the University of Miami, University of Florida, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Georgia, University of Central Florida, University of South Carolina, University of Pennsylvania, Florida State University, Auburn University, Texas Christian University, Abilene Christian University, Hampton University, and Harvard University. One of our former athlete’s is now a member of the USA National team and won championships at both the Junior and adult levels.

Our regular season normally begin on the first week of January of each year and ends with the league championship on the last week of April. The AAU Junior Olympic (AAU JO) team (athletes must qualify) continues practice through to the AAU JO games which is held during the last week of July and the first week of August.

Athlete registration begins in January with early registration and also at the practice facility during the regular season (see website for locations). We accept all athletes from age 5 years to 16 years of age; practice three days of the week and begin competition in March on Saturdays with other local track teams. The track meets are normally held at local high schools in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. We sometimes travel out of town (northern Florida) to participate in affiliated club track meets.

We would like to extend an invitation to all athletes interested in track and field to join our successful program. You will have fun as you become another one of our “bright stars” of the future.
