We are excited to again offer our popular Italian Dessert Sampler, featuring a decadent assortment of favorite holiday desserts and regional specialties from across Italy. We are also baking up two types of Panforte, a favorite Italian Christmas tradition baked in Tuscany since the Middle Ages. A cross between honey cake and nougat, Panforte Margherita is packed full of toasted nuts and candied fruit. Panforte Nero is Margherita's spicier cousin, packed with dark chocolate, figs, hazelnuts, and warming spices. Panforte pairs well with espresso, dessert wine, or a cheese plate. Wrapped in tissue paper, panforte make great gifts. We will also have our popular Persian Spice Cake.

This year we are offering a new specialty cookie box, a Lebanese Dessert Sampler, inspired by Anna's agricultural development work in Lebanon this past year. Lebanon hosts the largest number of refugees in the world. Many Lebanese immigrated to Vermont in the late 1800s. Our Lebanese Dessert Sampler features festive desserts from across Lebanon including favorite Levantine sweets from the Palestinian and Syrian communities that have made Lebanon home, including date-filled Ma'moul, Layered Baklava with Spiced Nuts and Rosewater Syrup, Marzipan-filled Medjool Dates, and Kadaifi Pastry Canapé with Honey Pistachios. Perfect for giving or enjoying with coffee over the holidays!

10% of all purchases this holiday season will be donated to UNICEF Lebanon's emergency response efforts providing water, food, medical care, and protection services to children in Lebanon.

A favorite Italian Christmas tradition, Panforte has been made in Siena since the Middle Ages. A cross between honey cake and nougat, this rich confection is packed full of toasted nuts and candied fruit. This recipe was rumored to be the favorite of Queen Margherita. A version spiced with nutmeg, cloves and pepper, Panforte Margherita is chewy, dense and studded with almonds, candied citrus, and dusted with sugar. Delicious on its own, Panforte pairs well with espresso or dessert wine, and is a perfect accompaniment to a cheese plate. In 2013 Panforte received the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) from the EU. Wrapped in tissue paper, includes a card with historical details. Stores for up to 2 months. (5 inches; 250g).

Packed with dark chocolate, figs, and hazelnuts, Panforte Nero is Margherita's spicier cousin. The name Panforte (“strong bread”) refers to the many spices, including black pepper, cloves, coriander, ginger and nutmeg, that give this confection its strong flavor. Our recipe uses two types of Valhrona chocolate and chestnut honey for maximum richness. Panforte was sold by apothecaries and monasteries in 13th century Tuscany, and was carried by the crusaders as trail food. Delicious as a hearty breakfast, panforte also pairs well with espresso, dessert wine, or a cheese plate. Wrapped in tissue paper and a bow; includes a card with historical details.
